Memorable Stadium Moments

Many great things happen in sports. However, there are some that appear unnatural by the way they happen. Some of them are preplanned, while others are spontaneous. This article highlights some of the greatest moments that have ever happened in sports.

Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman (1974)

Ali, who is considered as the greatest boxer of all the time, wanted to claim the heavyweight title from Foreman. During their fight in 1974, odds favoured Foreman, but Ali knocked out Foreman in the 8th round. Most people didn’t expect this outcome, which is one of the greatest moments in sports.

Mark Spitz: Won Seven Gold Medals (1972)

Mark Spitz won seven gold medals during the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. Despite been tired, he won the medal after participating in over thirteen different events. Because of this, Spitz became a legend. Michael Phelps beat his record in 2008.

Eliud Kipchoge: Breaks Two-Hour Marathon (2019)

Eliud Kipchoge is a living legend. He has won 11 out of 12 marathons he has participated in. In 2019, it broke the record by winning a marathon under 2 hours. Many people believed that this was not possible until it was done. Millions of people across the world watched the event.

The “Miracle on Ice” (1980)

The Soviet Union hockey team was unstoppable in the 1980s, and they were undefeated for several years. However, during the 1980 Olympic Games, the United States team won against them. Surprisingly, the United States team comprised of young and less experienced. This is why this is referred to as a miracle.

Lance Armstrong: Wins Tour De France (1999)

In 1999, Armstrong won the Tour De France, although all of the odds outnumbered him. He was suffering from testicular cancer, which had spread to the brain and lungs. During the race, Armstrong beat some of the world’s toughest rivals by more than seven minutes.

These are some of the greatest sports moments of all time.
