National Conferences
Upcoming Online Conference - Fall 2010 - details coming soon.
Online Conference December 1–3, 2009.
“… the first ever virtual interpretation conference anywhere in the world, as far as I know—another first for the Canadians!” Dr. Sam Ham, keynote speaker.
Many participants in our recent revitalization project saw “using more technology” as a key way forward for our association. IC board members are pleased to offer this easy-access conference opportunity back to interpreters.
IC national conferences are outstanding learning opportunities are where the underlying theory, philosophy and management of our field are addressed, as well as current good practice.
BC Regional Conference
In British Columbia, Interpretation Canada members hold an annual spring conference in early May, most recently at SFU in collaboration with EECOM.
These conferences provide insight into trends and opportunities, and also provide hands-on and practical professional development for interpreters of all experience levels. An excellent networking opportunity for interpreters across British Columbia.
Retreats and Smaller Workshops
These are held occasionally, depending on the initiative of local members. Most recently a series of afternoon workshops were held in six cities across Canada in winter 2008/2009.
